Why Inner Peace as a Mother Doesn’t Always Help Me
“Come to rest.” I hear this phrase constantly. And damn it, I am coming to rest! Every morning, every evening I sit there, relax, regulate my central nervous system. So far, so good.
But what am I supposed to do as a mother of three children when all three are having their wild moments simultaneously and I can’t just remove myself in that moment? After all, every withdrawal is also a kind of retreat, a rejection – and children can’t handle that well. Oh, forget it: not just children, adults can’t either.
The Rest Trend That Annoys Me
I have the feeling we’re currently in a trend that I honestly don’t like. Everywhere it says: “Come to rest, to inner peace.” But I am already calm all the time – when I’m staring at my phone, gazing at the computer screen, hanging in front of the TV.
I don’t need more rest. I need movement.
It’s a child of our time: Everywhere we see sitting Buddhas in meditation pose. But it’s time we see dancing goddesses – without them being immediately viewed as sex objects.
What I Learned Today
Today was mega stressful, since morning. The mood threatened to shift, the whole family was about to be infected by one person’s bad mood.
Then I tried something – a small experiment with headphones and my “Only good vibes” playlist. And what happened next surprised even me…
